CITY LIGHTS​

Las Vegas and Brighton are very different cities and more so at night. As darkness descends on these cities a transformation happens, another picture emerges. The kitch and garish Las Vegas, is saturated by colourful light and reflections. What seemed plastic and artificial during the harsh desert light at daytime, becomes glamorous and sparkly at night. 

Brighton's night scenes sparkle as well, though more like graphic images with shapes of colour set against a very black night sky. Darkness can convey some of Brighton's happy day time scenes turn eerie at night.

Night therefore is not the opposite of day, but a different picture altogether emerges. A twilight world comes into being, a world of shifting forms and new perceptions.
